The Ministry of National Territorial Preparation, Housing, Urbanization and Urban Policy reported that 6,000 buildings are at risk of collapse in the Rabat-Sale-Kenitra region, 10,000 similar buildings in the Tangier-Tetouan-El Hoceima region and 4,000 buildings in the Casablanca-Settat region.

Muhammad al-Sakuri, the Minister of Economic Integration, Small Business, Employment and Competencies, who read the response to the Council of Councilors on Tuesday on behalf of his colleague, Housing Minister Fatima Zahraa al-Mansouri, who was absent due to a death in the family, said that this ministry dealt with 16,000 mechanical buildings to fall out of the 41,000 counted by the competent authorities, or 40 percent. He explained that the number of families that live in or near this type of counted building and whose living conditions have been improved is estimated to be around 40,000 out of the 76,000 counted families.

And referring to the signing of more than 78 agreements with a number of stakeholders to work with a file of buildings that are about to collapse, Al-Sakuri explained that the Ministry of Housing has pumped AED 2.2 billion into the budget for a project to rehabilitate these buildings, the total budget of which is 7 billion dirhams, given that this type of building is complex and requires a lot of knowledge and capabilities.
