Canadian-Moroccan singer Fuzia Ouyahia won two awards at the eighth official African music competition AFRICA, organized this year in Dakar, Senegal’s capital. This event aims to honor and represent the African musical heritage.

Fuzia Ouyahia was able to win the Best Female Artist of North Africa award in a public vote, ahead of her Moroccan counterparts who were nominated alongside her in the same category this year. These are Manal Benshelikha, Reem Fikri, Gaylan and Marwa Laud. He also won the Best African Work award for Rip Love. This is the first coronation of its kind for Morocco in this category.

A group of Moroccan rap stars fought for the title of the best performer in North Africa, and these are Grandi Toto, Draganov and Sannur; But they failed to win, although the percentage of votes was close to the rest of the winners.

It is worth noting that the AFRICA award, established in 2014 under the auspices of the African Union Commission, was the last edition of the Moroccan competition. Thanks to him, three Moroccan artists were crowned, namely Daisy Druss, Manal Benchliha and Grande Toto.
