Twitter, owned by billionaire Elon Musk, laid off dozens of employees on Saturday as part of its eighth round of job cuts since last October, according to The Information website. The site quotes people with direct knowledge of the matter. on Sunday, saying the job cuts have affected numerous engineering teams, including those supporting ad tech, Twitter implementation, and the technical infrastructure involved in keeping Twitter systems running. Twitter did not immediately respond to a US media request for comment, according to Al-Hurra TV.
In early November, Twitter laid off about 3,700 employees in a cost-cutting move adopted by Musk, who bought the company for $44 billion. And U.S. tech site The Information pointed out that the recent job cuts are intended to make up for lower revenues after the company’s mask took over, as well as cut back on the number of employees, which had already been cut by at least 70 percent, to cover about two thousand employees. In November, Musk said the service was experiencing a “significant drop in revenue” as advertisers hold back on spending due to content management concerns.
