The Royal Gendarmerie’s “Constellation of Horsemen” elements at the Tiznit secretariat succeeded last night in preventing the smuggling of a significant amount of fortified sugar coming from the southern provinces into the interior cities of the Kingdom.
According to informed sources given to Hespress, the operation, led by the group’s commander at the level of the judicial dam, resulted in the seizure of more than 11 tons of smuggled sugar, which was loaded onto a large truck, the driver of which was arrested.
The same sources added that the police officers placed the arrested driver under theoretical security measures in the interest of a preliminary search, which is carried out under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office in parallel with the towing of the truck in the direction of the detainee.
This operation comes as part of a quality intervention carried out by the Ryders Division units over the past months to put an end to smuggling of subsidized goods from the southern regions and to combat all forms of illegal profiteering.
