On the occasion of the celebration of International Women’s Day, which falls on March 8, the local prison administration in Nador, in partnership with the Women and Children Empowerment Association and the Association of Hope for Pharmacy Assistants in the region, and with the assistance of the Collective Council of the Seluan Community, organized a multidisciplinary medical escort for prisoners of the prison institution and prisoners with their children. The prisoners were classified as minors, sick, elderly and foreign prisoners.
The convoy included several medical specialties such as obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, chest medicine, dentistry, orthopedics, nose and throat medicine, endocrinology and diabetes, vein and ophthalmology, nerves and skin, in addition to general medicine and a medical laboratory.
These medical examinations and laboratory tests were useful to the prisoners in addition to the group of drugs prescribed to them by doctors of various specialties. In parallel, roses were distributed to the prisoners, and sweets to the accompanying children.
The local prison administration in Nador praised this humanitarian initiative, stating that it “expresses the growing interest of civil society actors and their effective response to the needs of prisoners, especially in the area of improving medical care for them”, considering it “an important step towards effective social integration of this segment of society”. Given that integration is a shared responsibility.
Hafiza Harkash, head of the Association for the Empowerment of Women and Children and the Association of Hope for Pharmacists’ Assistants in the Nador district, said: “The organization of the medical convoy is part of humanitarian initiatives aimed at various groups and 450 prisoners. it was used by inmates of a prison facility of various ages under the supervision of a medical staff consisting of 12 doctors “in various disciplines”.
And the press secretary of the electronic newspaper Hespress considered that “the organization of this initiative was dense and successful at all levels” and that “the medical convoy achieved all its goals”, praising at the end of her speech “the work of the organizing committee, doctors from the cities of Nador and Oujda and various parties involved.”
