The electronic newspaper Hespress has learned from an informed source that the Institute for Social and Media Research will be in correspondence with the Socio-Economic Council and UN Secretary-General António Guterres to stop Algeria’s attempts to prevent the Institute from obtaining international consultative status.
The same source said: “The representatives of Algeria in the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations deliberately prevented the Moroccan Institute from obtaining international consultative status, asking a series of obscure questions only in order to block Morocco from obtaining this status.”
A Hespress source added: “The Institute corresponded with the secretariat of the United Nations Social and Economic Council before discussing the issue of obtaining international consultative status for Morocco, presented by the Institute for Social and Media Studies, in order to forestall Algerian attempts, but our request was not answered, and after our access to it has been blocked.” Membership due to the objection of the representatives of Algeria.
An informed source emphasized that “the majority of representatives of the African continent and other continents in the UN Council did not object to the Moroccan request, while Algeria, for spurious reasons, tried to obstruct this issue by asking a group of undesirable questions numbering eleven, which required transferring our request to the next voting session.
