New Twitter owner Elon Musk announced in a tweet Thursday that he has decided, based on the results of a 24-hour poll he has conducted on the platform, to issue a “general pardon” for frozen accounts on his site and to reactivate them, starting with ” next week”.

Musk said: “People have had their say. General amnesty begins next week,” in response to a previous tweet he posted on Wednesday, in which he asked Twitter to answer the following question in a referendum: “Should Twitter issue a general amnesty for blocked accounts, as long as they didn’t break the law and did not send explicit spam?

And 72.4% of tweeters answered “yes” to Musk’s question, while 27.6% of them answered “no”.
