Today, a large number of congressmen of the 11th Congress of the Progress and Socialism Party began collecting signatures for the nomination of Nabil Benabdallah as the party’s general secretary for the fourth time.

Nominations for the post of Secretary-General are expected to be officially announced shortly, but from what is circulating behind the scenes, it appears that no one has come forward to compete with Benabdallah.
According to a party source, there is a consensus among the majority of Politburo members that Benabdallah should remain at the head of the party.

Today, at twelve o’clock, the deadline for applications for the post of Secretary General has expired, and the nominating committee is expected to announce the names of the nominees.

The Party’s Basic Law sets out the conditions for nomination, including that the candidate must be a former member of the Politburo and Central Committee, and requires the submission of signatures in support of the nomination for the post of General Secretary, including ten members of a conference representing 10 parties, or not less than 100 signatures.
