Today, Monday, the US and Canadian (NASA) and Canadian (CSA) space agencies announced the Artemis 2 crew; This is the first manned mission on NASA’s path, the first manned landing on the moon since 1972.
“NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Hammock Koch and Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen all have their own stories,” said NASA Administrator Bill Nelson during an event outside NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. But together they represent our faith.”
The Artemis mission aims to return American astronauts to the Moon, including at least one woman. The original target to achieve this by 2024 has been pushed back to at least 2025.
Notably, the Artemis 2 mission, the first manned flight around the Moon, will be followed by another manned flight, including a landing on the lunar surface. The last human satellite landing mission was carried out by NASA in 1972 using the Apollo 17 spacecraft.
