The passage of a severe snow storm in California in the western United States on Monday resulted in power outages in approximately 45,000 homes.
The website Poweroutage, which specializes in counting electric current in the United States, indicated that about six thousand such houses are located in Los Angeles County.
More than 13,400 power outages were reported in Mariposa, Madera, and Fresno counties in the south-central Sierra Nevada and surrounding areas of the San Joaquin Valley.
Humboldt, Mendocino, Lake, Butte, Yuba and Nevada counties in northern California were reporting more than ten thousand power outages as of Monday morning, according to the same source.
And US weather officials said heavy snowfall was recorded in mountainous areas north of Los Angeles and Oxnard counties. It also issued a Monday morning blizzard warning for the San Joaquin Valley and Yosemite areas.
