The share of university scholarships given to students in the Taunate region has fallen to 83 percent, while the share of scholarship holders has reached 93 percent in recent years.
The dispute over university scholarships in the Taunat region reached the parliament, where MP Ikram El-Hinnawi, representing the Progress and Socialist Party, sent a written question to the Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation about reducing the share of scholarship holders. in the region, noting that the Taunate region is known for remarkable levels of poverty, fragility and school waste.
Al-Hinnawi recorded that other regions received significant percentages of grantee shares, despite the fact that some of these regions have university institutions, which establishes spatial inequity and a lack of equal opportunity.
The MP called for the intervention of the minister, the guardian of the higher education sector, to distribute the university scholarship to students from Taunate.
