Parliamentary sources told Hespress that the parliamentary committee on justice, law and human rights is preparing to elect a new head after its former chairman, Mohamed Laraj of the People’s Movement Party, failed to return to parliament after partial elections. in the province of Al Hoceima last July, pursuant to the decision of the Court of the Constitutional Judge to hold a repeat election in that constituency.
The movement’s group is seeking to retain the chairmanship of the Justice and Legislation Committee, which the constitution provides for a chairperson for the opposition, but the debate over who will take the post has yet to be resolved.
Hespress sources told Hespress that there are rumors that Mohamed Mubda, an MP and head of the Fakih Bensalah Collective Council, will take the position, but his file, which is open to the National Judicial Police Directorate, could prevent this.
A parliamentary source told Hespress: “The creator is innocent for now out of respect for the presumption of innocence, but taking this position, combined with his subsequent actions, could send a negative signal,” noting that there are MPs who have doubts about the creative chairmanship of this committee. which will push the kinetic team to look for another alternative.
Hespress sources do not rule out that the kinetic group will lose the chairmanship of this committee, which the socialist group seems to be claiming.
It is noteworthy that the Committee on Justice, Legislation and Human Rights continued to be chaired by Lubna Al-Sagiri, MP from the Progress and Socialism Party, former Deputy Chairman of the Committee, after the cancellation of his election by the Constitutional Court.
The Justice, Law and Human Rights Committee is expected to elect a new chairman immediately after the opening of Parliament on 14 October.
