Estimates from a labor force survey conducted by the Saudi Arabian General Statistics Office showed a decline in the unemployment rate among Saudis to 9.7 percent in the second quarter of 2022, down 0.4 percentage points from the first quarter of 2022.

The authorities said in a report today (Thursday) that Saudi Arabia’s overall unemployment rate for Saudis and non-Saudis fell to 5.8 percent in the second quarter of 2022, down 0.2 percentage points from the first quarter of 2022.

The male unemployment rate in Saudi Arabia fell to 4.7 percent in the second quarter of 2022, down 0.3 percent from the first quarter of 2022 and 1.4 percent from the second quarter of 2021.

The unemployment rate for Saudi women fell to 19.3% in the second quarter of 2022, down 3% from last year and down 0.9% from the first quarter of 2022.

The authorities added that this decline, with the expansion of the labor market and growth in employment, coincided with an increase in the participation rate of Saudis in the labor force by 1.5 percent to 67.5 percent, and the share of Saudi workers in relation to the population increased by 1.6 percent and reached 64 .3 percent.
